We are what we love to read, and when we admit to loving a book, we admit that the book represents some aspect of ourselves truly, whether it is that we are suckers for romance or pining for adventure or secretly fascinated by crime.

About This Quote

The truth in this quote is that the book is the way in which we find ourselves, in the book. This is because when we read a book, we are reading our own story. We are finding out about who we are and who we want to become. When someone says that they love a book, what that person is really saying is that they love their own story.

They are acknowledging that the story in the book reflects themselves, not just in terms of their likes, but also in terms of their faults, their strengths, and their weaknesses. They are revealing themselves when they say this. We do our best to hide behind masks to keep people from knowing us too well because we fear having our true selves seen by others.

But when we admit to loving a book, we reveal ourselves through it.
